Every Radiator Problem, Sorted Properly

One cold radiator or a whole house that never quite gets warm enough - whatever the issue, our engineers figure out the real cause rather than just bodging a quick fix. We cover all of Doncaster and can usually get to you the same day.

  • Cold patches at the top of the radiator
  • Cold across the bottom half - sign of sludge
  • Radiator completely cold when the rest work fine
  • Water dripping from a radiator valve
  • Banging, gurgling, or hissing from the radiator
  • Leak from the radiator body itself
  • TRV stuck open or will not turn
  • Heat patchy across the whole house

Air Removal

Trapped air makes radiators cold at the top. We bleed it out and check the system pressure - sorted in minutes.

System Power Flush

Shifts the sludge and magnetite that settles in radiator bottoms and clogs the whole system. Full clean-out.

Valve Swaps

Seized or leaking TRVs and lockshield valves replaced with quality parts. Guaranteed workmanship.

Common Radiator Issues in Older Doncaster Properties

Many homes across Doncaster were built in the 1930s through to the 1970s, and the heating systems in these properties come with their own set of problems. Victorian and Edwardian terraces in the town centre and Hexthorpe often have narrow-bore pipework that restricts flow and causes uneven heating. Post-war semis in Intake, Balby, and Wheatley Hills frequently still have original steel radiators where decades of iron oxide sludge has built up inside.

Council-built properties in Cantley, Bessacarr, and Armthorpe sometimes have microbore pipework from 1970s and 1980s refurbishments, which blocks more easily and makes individual radiators go completely cold. If you live in an older Doncaster home and your radiators have never been flushed, there is a good chance sludge is already causing problems - a power flush can clear that out and restore full heat.

Seized thermostatic valves are another common fault we see in older properties. The pins corrode and stick, leaving radiators permanently on or permanently off. Our engineers carry replacement TRVs on the van and can swap them on the spot.

Radiator Questions

My radiator is hot at the bottom but cold at the top - why?
There is air trapped in the top of the radiator stopping hot water from getting up there. Bleeding it with a radiator key lets the air out and fixes it in about two minutes. Our engineers do this as standard on every visit.
What does it mean when a radiator is cold at the bottom?
That points to sludge and iron oxide sitting in the bottom of the rad, blocking the water flow. Bleeding will not sort this - you need either a power flush to clean the whole system or, in bad cases, the radiator taking off and flushing separately.
Can you swap a radiator out on the same day?
Usually, yes. We carry the most common radiator sizes and TRV valves on the van. If your radiator is an unusual size, we can normally get hold of one and have it fitted within 24 hours.
What does it cost to get a radiator repaired in Doncaster?
Straightforward jobs like bleeding or a valve swap start at around £79. We give you a written price before we do anything, and that is the price you pay. No add-ons, no hidden bits.
